“Mother Earth” is a common expression used to refer to the planet Earth in different countries and regions, which demonstrates the interdependence between human beings, other living species and the planet that we all inhabit.
The Earth and its ecosystems are our home. To achieve a fair balance between the economic, social and environmental needs of present and future generations, it is necessary to promote harmony with nature and the planet.
We celebrate the International Day of Mother Earth to remember that the planet and its ecosystems give us life and sustenance. With this day, we assume, in addition, the collective responsibility to foster this harmony with nature and Mother Earth.
This day also gives us the opportunity to raise awareness among all the inhabitants of the planet about the problems that affect the Earth and the different life forms that develop in it.
This year, the eighth Dialogue on Harmony with Nature is celebrated on April 23 at the UN Headquarters in New York. This interactive dialogue is a good platform to address issues such as sustainable production and consumption patterns in Harmony with nature. Likewise, the dialogue wants to encourage citizens and societies to become aware of how they relate to each other and how they can relate to the natural world; At the same time, it aims to improve the ethical foundations of the relationship between humanity and the Earth, in terms of sustainable development.
